How is the ‘self’ born in the brain and how it affects our cognition, behavior, and social adaptation? We are trying to solve mysteries about various aspects of the self, such as physical, social, and mental health.

Closer relationships can lead to more memory errors between oneself and others, termed as memory misattribution. Interestingly, our study found that this phenomenon is not associated with perceived closeness but correlates with the diversity of shared experiences. This implies that the influence of social relationships on memory is emotionally independent and involves a intricate structure based on past memories and information.
I presented this result at the Young Ensemble of Tohoku University. It was the first time for me to attend an academic meeting, and I value it as a precious experience. (He Xinyi)
