The Self in the Brain

How is the ‘self’ born in the brain and how it affects our cognition, behavior, and social adaptation? We are trying to solve mysteries about various aspects of the self, such as physical, social, and mental health.

202401.10 Does feeling accepted by others influence self-evaluation? (Poster Presentation) Posted in RESEARCH

Self-evaluation was believed to be influenced by the sense of acceptance. Prior research has shown that people may evaluate themselves positively or negatively in various domains, which may be influenced by the sense of acceptance. However, it is not clear if there is a relationship between self-evaluation and feelings of acceptance. In this study, for the first time, we show that activity in different brain regions is correlated with the sense of acceptance during self-evaluation in various brain regions. These findings were presented at the 2024 winter workshop of the Mechanism of Brain and Mind.
