The Self in the Brain

How is the ‘self’ born in the brain and how it affects our cognition, behavior, and social adaptation? We are trying to solve mysteries about various aspects of the self, such as physical, social, and mental health.

202308.27 Are senses of acceptance and rejection related to self-evaluation? (Poster presentation) Posted in RESEARCH

Self-evaluation is believed to be influenced by feelings of acceptance and rejection. Previous research has indicated that individuals may evaluate themselves positively or negatively across various domains to gain social acceptance and avoid rejection. However, there is no empirical evidence showing the association between self-evaluation and the sense of acceptance and the sense of rejection. In our study, we found correlations between activity in different brain regions during self-evaluation in various domains and the sense of acceptance and the sense of rejection. These findings were presented at the 50th meeting of the European Brain and Behaviour Society (Ding).
