202308.06 Depression Detection Using Eye Movements During Conversation with a Virtual Avatar (Article in press) Posted in RESEARCH

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, our lives have changed dramatically. In particular, we spend more time interacting online and less time actually meeting people. This has led to many situations where people have mental breakdowns and no one notices.
We have therefore focused our attention on detecting a person's mental state from eye movements during online communication. In particular, we found that eye movements during conversations with virtual avatars can detect depression. The results were published in the Journal of Eye Movement Research (Takemoto) https://bop.unibe.ch/JEMR/article/view/9711
