Human brain science for the future
Super aging society, increasing disasters, and ‘smart’ society to come; how do these environmental and social changes affect our lives and values? From the perspective of cognition and brain science, we aim to make proposals on the future of human life, technology and society.
It is commonly observed that native language is typically more emotional than a second language. Research suggests that a language can become more emotional if it is acquired through social interactions.This study used fMRI to explore the effects of social interactions on neural representations of emotionality in a second language. Our results revealed that the brain activity in the emotion-related areas increased as the social interaction intensity increased. We presented our research and findings at the American Association for Applied Linguistics conference in Portland, U.S, which took place from March 17th to 21st, 2023. (Chunlin)
