Human brain science for the future
Super aging society, increasing disasters, and ‘smart’ society to come; how do these environmental and social changes affect our lives and values? From the perspective of cognition and brain science, we aim to make proposals on the future of human life, technology and society.
202305.22 Differences in neural processes of tsunami evacuation decision-making by information type (conference poster presentation) Posted in RESEARCH

Information processed during tsunami evacuation after an earthquake can be divided into two major types: descriptive information obtained from the media, such as seismic intensity and epicenter area, and sensory information obtained from the five senses through personal experience. We found that the cognitive process of evacuation decision-making is different between these two types of information, using a fictitious earthquake scenario and brain measurement experiments using fMRI. The results of this research, "Differences in neural processes of tsunami evacuation decision-making by information type: an fMRI study," was a poster presentation at the session "Literacy for Disaster Risk Reduction" at the 2023 Congress of the Japan Geoscience Union.
