We are not always conscious of things to do. We should be reminded of those at the right time. The function of reminding is called “prospective memory” in psychology. There is great interst in the system of prospective memory and its application to daily life.
I talked and had a discussion about the role of working memory in prospective memory at the symposium entitled “Prospective memory: voluntary future cognition about ‘Oops, I must do it’ thinking” in the 83rd annual convention of the Japanese Psychological Association. (Tanabe)
