201907.08 How do we recognize the sense of self-agency in action? (paper publication) Posted in RESEARCH

We investigated the brain mechanism of the sense of self-agency in action (the sense of having performed one's own action) by comparing the brain activity at the time of hearing the tone that was generated by oneself and the tone that was not so. The role of sensorimotor association cortices in predicting a tone from their own actions and that of the auditory cortex areas in tone processing were dissociated. The finding may contribute to the understanding of pathology of schizophrenia in which a sense of agency is impaired. The paper was published in Scientific Reports. (Kikuchi)
