People can regulate their self-presentation to others based on the feedback of social interaction, which can help them obtain good interpersonal relationships. In this study, we used fMRI to investigate how people regulate their self-presentation after receiving social rejection. The results showed that after social rejection, they evaluate themselves and the other person more positively. Moreover, this kind of regulation may be related to metacognition that people think about how other people perceive them.
