At this year’s Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS) Annual Meeting, I presented research on how learning contexts influence the acquisition of emotional vocabulary in a second language (L2), focusing on both lexical meaning and emotional meaning. The results showed that watching videos containing emotional cues not only facilitated the initial learning of L2 emotional vocabulary, but the advantage also remained significant even after one month.
During the conference, I was also thrilled to meet the well-known Chinese YouTuber LIU Mengxing (the Andy in China), who uploads popular fMRI analysis tutorials, and managed to get a photo together. I also reunited with a friend(GU Chanyuan) from my study abroad days at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who is now working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Connecticut. This experience reminded me that academic conferences are not only a place to share the latest research but also a wonderful opportunity for meaningful reunions.
