Humans create a society through communication, and language is its powerful tool to convey feelings and move people. Elucidation of the neural bases of these functions and their acquisition is expected to contribute to understanding humanity and to educational applications.

Social networks have always been reported to play an important role in promoting the vocabulary and fluency of the target language. But does rich social networks with native speakers help you feel the emotionality embedded in the second language (L2), and change the neural representations on how you process emotional words in the second language? Taking use of the fMRI experiment, I found that the activation in the left ventral striatum increases as the number of social experiences increases during the processing of L2 positive words. I presented the result at the annual meeting of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language 2021. （Chunlin）
