202301.12 Seeing makes it more animate? (Paper publication) Posted in RESEARCH

Although the perception of animality is thought to be a higher-order cognitive process, simple factors such as perception time also seem to be important. When presented with two pictures of faces for different durations of time, people rated the face presented longer as more "animate." This phenomenon did not occur for a physical percept "roundness.” The results of this joint research with Dr. Toshiki Saito (Waseda University) and colleagues have been published in Frontiers in Psychology as the paper "Facilitating animacy perception by manipulating stimuli exposure time."
