How do second language learners process attitudinal prosody? (Conference Presentation)

Attitudinal prosody is important in social verbal communication as it allows us to perceive someone's attitude or intention through the tone of voice. Accurately perceiving the attitudinal prosody in the second language can be challenging, possibly due to lack of exposure. In this study, we used fMRI to investigate the brain mechanisms for processing attitudinal prosody in the second language, and the effect of language exposure. We presented this research at the '2023 Joint International Conference on ELT in Korea' held in Seoul, South Korea from July 6th to 8th 2023. http://jointconference2023.com/
