202507.04 Neural Processing of Attitudinal Prosody During Second Language Sentence Comprehension(Oral Presentation) Posted in RESEARCH

We attended the Korean Society of Psycholinguistics "Re"-Human Brain in Psychology and Language conference, held in Seoul, South Korea.
At the conference, I presented our fMRI study, which investigated how second-language learners process attitudinal prosody, the intonation that conveys intentions such as friendliness, during sentence comprehension, in comparison to linguistic prosody, which encodes syntactic and semantic information.
Our findings suggest that second language exposure plays a significant role in how learners interpret a speaker’s intention through intonation.(Victoria-Anne)
