201710.20 You can get motivated to be happy? (Symposium on Friday 20th Oct.) Posted in RESEARCH

I gave a talk at the 3rd Symposium on Dementia Prevention at the Smart-Aging Research Center on Friday 20th of October. In the talk, I presented some results from an analysis on web-survey data about the effect of motivational quotes with 1000 participants aged 20-69. The data showed that the degree of motivation risen by quotes increases with age. It is also suggested by the data that people who gets easily motivated by quotes rate their wellbeing as high. The results also showed that both the quotes effect and subjective wellbeing increase with age, which implicates that the ease of getting motivated can enhance wellbeing in the elderly's life. We will continue the research to develop measures in order to enhance people's motivation and satisfaction in life. (Ishibashi)
