Can the Brain Explain the Relationship Between Infectious Diseases and Collectivism? An fMRI Study of the Neural Basis of the Behavioral Immune System (Poster Presentation)

It is known that humans who have experienced repeated infections have developed a "behavioral immune system", a low-cost psychological defense response that complements the physiological immune response and significantly influences how we perceive ourselves and interact in society. However, few studies have directly explored this hypothesis at the neural level, leaving the underlying mechanisms unclear.
We presented a poster on the results of an fMRI experiment conducted in our laboratory, which combined an infection recognition intervention with questionnaire analysis, at the international conference organized by the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) held in Seoul, Korea. We gained valuable and up-to-date insights not only on the experimental subjects but also on brain data analysis.
