202110.05 Do rich social networks enable you feel emotions in your second language? Posted in RESEARCH

Social networks have always been reported to play an important role in promoting the vocabulary and fluency of the target language. But does rich social networks with native speakers help you feel the emotionality embedded in the second language (L2), and change the neural representations on how you process emotional words in the second language? Taking use of the fMRI experiment, I found that the activation in the left ventral striatum increases as the number of social experiences increases during the processing of L2 positive words. I presented the result at the annual meeting of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language 2021. (Chunlin)
