202109.10 Toward a proposal for a lifelong view of "Memory Investment" (New research project) Posted in RESEARCH

It has been reported that recollecting nostalgic memories has various psychological effects, but there have been no studies on what kind of nostalgic memories produce what effects. Considering psychosocial developmental theories, it can be hypothesized that the value of nostalgic memories differs at each stage of life and may be involved in the expression of different psychological effects.
Through this research, which was selected as a Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A) "Lifelong Sciences," we will challenge to propose a new view of life called "memory investment," in which people design their lives while being aware of the meaning that their current way of life will present in the latter half of their lives at each stage of life.(Oba)
