202110.07 Self-help, mutual-help, and public-help in the immediate aftermath of a disaster: Multiplicity of problem-solving and power to live (Article Publication) Posted in RESEARCH

What psycho-behavioral characteristics show strength in solving the problems faced immediately after the disaster? A survey of survivors from the Great East Japan Earthquake revealed that "problem-response ability" works positively to solve problems on one's own, "leadership," "altruism," and "stubbornness" to solve problems through mutual aid, and "emotional control" to solve problems through public aid. The results were published in the PLoS ONE. (Sugiura)
