The brain to find the answer to the problem unconsciously (Paper publication)
Posted in RESEARCH
Difficult problems can sometimes be answered after they were laid down. In psychological experiments, it has been reported that even if you focus your attention on another distraction task immediately after a complex problem is presented, you can answer the problem later. We conducted this “unconscious thinking” experiment in our MRI scanner and found that a good answer to the problem later was associated with activation of the brain network for processing of abstract concepts and values during the distraction task. The paper was accepted for publication in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience. (Kageyama)
